…do what you love,

and you will love what you do!

Perhaps you believe work is not to be enjoyed, rather it’s hard and harsh. At its worst, it’s cursed. You might even hate your job. Maybe even more relevant is whether you can make enough money doing what you love. Is loving your work even possible?

Let’s consider a familiar saying…

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow

What do you have that you didn’t receive? Everyone receives time and talents through which treasure can be found.

  • Time: Tick, tock goes the clock, measuring your life in seconds and minutes. It’s more than the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future, so be careful to live each wisely, making the most of your time.
  • Talents: Everyone has unique, natural aptitudes or skills, including you. In fact, do you know that you are God’s workmanship created for good works? You can even name, claim, and aim your talents by measuring your unique talent themes. Receive, share, and thank God calling you to employ your special gifts and passions.

Powered by Passion

“A team of researchers followed a group of 1,500 people over a period of 20 years. At the outset of the study, the participants were divided into 2 groups:

  • Group A, 83% of the sample, was composed of people embarking on a career path they had chosen solely for the prospect of making money now to do what they wanted later in life.
  • Group B, the other 17% of the sample, consisted of people who had chosen their career paths so they could do what they wanted now and worry about the money later.

“The data showed some startling revelations:

  • At the end of the 20-year period, 101 of the 1,500 had become millionaires.
  • Of the millionaires, all but one – 100 out of 101 – were from Group B, the group that had chosen to pursue what they loved.

“The key ingredient in most successful projects is loving what you do. Having a goal or a plan is not enough. Academic preparation is not enough. Prior experience is not enough. Enjoyment of your life’s work is the key.” – Robert J. Kriegel and Louis Patler in their book, If It Ain’t Broke…BREAK IT!

Volunteer for Fun and Profit

“You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want,” so goes this quote from motivational speaker and author Zig Ziglar. This is especially true when helping others find jobs and careers.

  • The #1 thing most people want is a good job, yet 7 of every 10 workers in America are unemployed, underemployed, or misemployed, according to Gallup and U.S. Labor Department surveys.
  • According to U.S. Labor Department report released today estimated 11.6 million people in the U.S. are looking for jobs because they are either suffering a job loss or working part-time and unable to make ends meet.

Seek to serve people who need most what you do best.

Whether you are individually helping someone or volunteering with an organization, search for work you love. You will make new friends and give new meaning when you work for a higher purpose. On the practical side, if you are searching for a job or career you can love, volunteering gives you experience, skills, and contacts for the next step. From a spiritual point of view, you are blessed to be a blessing.
